“In yoga & creative practice I have found a space that will be there for me at every stage of life.”
Fran Newman
“I distinctly remember when, encouraged by friends, I entered a yoga space for the first time, dimly lit by a candle, the teacher sitting in silence, and I thought to myself, I think there’s something here for me…”
That was in 1987. With time I became a committed yoga practitioner. I started teaching in 2012 having completed 200 hours training with Yoga Alliance. Under the guidance of Judith Hanson Lasater (student of B.K.S. Iyengar), I continued my learning through specialised trainings and assistant teaching. My relationship with Judith has been instrumental in shaping my understanding of wellbeing through yoga and Restorative Yoga in particular.
I set up Soulful Nature in 2018 with the aim of guiding others in the practice of yoga, sharing with them the knowledge and wisdom that has been shared with me. All my work with yoga and creativity is upheld by 3 pillars: observation, support, and compassion.
A quiet observer, I slow down to see the person in front of me or to see the seasons in the natural world - it’s the same. When I slow down I can create a pause to check in with myself asking “what’s alive in me right now?” helps to frame the person I am and how I choose to show up in the world.
